About the court

How the verdicts are reached, and where the numbers come from.

How a food is judged

Every food is judged on its values per 100 g, or per 100 ml for drinks, so foods can be compared fairly. Fat, saturated fat, sugars, sodium and calories add penalty points. Protein, fiber and vegetables take points away. 0 points or fewer is Walang Sala (Not Guilty), 1 to 2 is Paalala (Warning), 3 to 4 is Probation, and 5 or more is May Sala (Guilty). Changing the display unit never changes the verdict.

The bands for fat, saturated fat, sugars and sodium are based on the UK front-of-pack traffic light thresholds. The other rules are this site's own. A meal trial compares what you ate with the PDRI 2015 daily reference for an adult, male or female.

Where the numbers come from

Each food page names the source of its nutrition values under Source of evidence. Dishes currently show planning estimates that will be replaced with verified data. Packaged products use Open Food Facts, a public database of product labels.

About the health notices

A No settlement notice does not say a food causes a disease. It warns people who already have that condition that the food deserves extra care. The site does not ask for or store any personal health information.

Not medical advice

The verdicts are for fun and general information. They are not medical or dietary advice. If you have a health condition, consult a professional.
